Sheriff's Office Scam Alert
The Adams County Sheriff's Office is warning the public about a phone scam where callers are posing as sheriffs.

The sheriff's office was notified by two different individuals that they received calls from people identifying themselves as Adams County Deputy Sheriffs, according to a Adams County Sheriff's Office news release.

The one caller allegedly told the one individual that she had an outstanding warrant that needed to be taken care of.

She hung up and called the office, where they verified that she did not have a warrant and no one from the office had called her.

A second individual was called by someone who identified himself as a sergeant in the office and left a message asking the individual to contact him. This call was also deemed to be fraudulent, the release states.

The Adams County Sheriff's Office asks that if anyone is contacted with this scam to report it immediately to their office at 717-337-9828, or to local law enforcement.
