A reminder to everyone that there will be a public Open House at the new Adams County Human Services Building
Tuesday, June 20th. The open house and self-guided tour is from 4-7PM. The open house will be followed by an Adams County Commissioners Forum with Economic Development
as the primary topic from 7-8:30PM. The forum will be held in the just completed multi-purpose meeting/training room. The commissioners and departmental staff will be located throughout the building to provide information and answer questions. After the forum is over the building will re-open to the public from 8:30-9:30. The open house is a culmination of over three years of planning, visioning and being willing to explore one path - and then back up to find another path that made more sense. The working relationship between the County and the Court to have the collaboration and vision to make this significant addition to Adams County happen is to be applauded.
The completed building will include Children & Youth Services, MHIDD, Court Operations, IT, Probation, multi-purpose meeting/training room, Domestic Relations, two District Justice offices, a larger courtroom, maintenance/receiving area and staff break room. All visitors will enter the front of the building through security. There are a few finishing touches yet to be done, including some furniture and some parking additions. We anticipate having a formal building dedication late summer or early fall.
Besides convenience to visitors, staff and departments being able to easily interact with one another is significant in providing superior service. Some departments had been split in two or three areas in leased space. The former yearbook plant includes 26 acres and offers free parking to visitors and staff. Come see for yourself why county staff is very, very proud, both operationally and fiscally, of the benefits the new Human Services Building will provide to Adams County residents for decades!
