WELCOME TO THE BOROUGH OF MCSHERRYSTOWN, ADAMS COUNTY
Statement from the Council President regarding Public Comment at Special Meeting 1/18/2022
While it was admittedly an error tonight regarding the bypassing of public comment prior to new business items; it was acknowledged as a mistake and those wishing to comment were given the opportunity to do so. However
it needs to be pointed out that the first agenda item dealt with a personnel issue which, on legal advise from the solicitor, could not be discussed
openly in a public meeting regardless of any comment. The oversight was acknowledged, an apology was offered and then corrected by allowing
comment at that time.
The person who identified the short coming when given the opportunity to comment did not have anything further to add to the discussion and as such; the issue was resolved properly.
The solicitor cleared up any questions regarding the availability of public comment and the circumstances to which it will be handled in the future.
Resignation of Councilman Mark Lookenbill
Upon the resignation of Councilman Mark Lookenbill, Council President announced the invitation for letters of intent of any eligible candidate to be submitted to the borough office and must be postmarked prior to the next public meeting January 26, 2022 at 6:30 pm. While the Borough Council will not make habit of responding to each situation, these particular comments were misinformed and presented an inaccurate picture of the true situation and for that reason the record needed to be cleared up.
