The Sheriff’s Office processes hundreds of applications of individuals who are interested in obtaining a
license to carry a concealed weapon under Commonwealth law. Beginning with his second term, the Sheriff sought to provide a low-cost, high-quality training program for the public. A public-private partnership was entered into with the Littlestown Fish and Game Club whereby they provide their facility and volunteer firearms instructors and the Sheriff and members of his staff in turn, volunteered their own time to provide classroom and range training. This kept the cost low and the quality of instruction high. Classes began in 2010 and have continued. This two-day, 16-hour program was expanded to include the Green Springs Rod and Gun Club and will be hosted by other ranges in the near future. Those interested can obtain information and sign on to future classes by calling the Sheriff’s Office at (717) 337-9828.
