Marty Karsteter Qually, Commissioner, was first elected to the Board of Commissioners in 2011 and is serving his second term as Commissioner.
Prior to becoming a County Commissioner, Commissioner Qually was a Adams County Auditor. With his background as Auditor, much of his focus as a Commissioner has been and continues to be promoting projects that are both fiscally responsible and sustainable. Commissioner Qually also serves on the board of the Adams County Economic Development Corporation, Adams County Farmers Market Association, the Convention and Visitors Bureau Marketing Committee and regularly attends many community meetings focused on quality of life, economic sustainability, and rural concerns throughout the County. Commissioner Qually serves as liaison to the board of Adams County Connected, which was created to update the Commissioners on the status of internet connectivity and capacity throughout Adams County. While Adams County has adequate infrastructure for our existing businesses, without a stronger broadband infrastructure Adams County businesses will suffer in the years to come.
Prior to becoming a Commissioner Marty and his wife Elizabeth Meighan operated a catering company specializing in creating menus based on local products. You can still occasionally catch him cooking for local charities around the County. Commissioner Qually also brings with him years of varied experience in local government from being an administrator for the City of Frederick, MD, a Gettysburg Borough council member, and having served on municipal planning, zoning, water, and sewer boards. Commissioner Qually received all of his education in this area attending Saint Francis Xavier School, Delone Catholic High School and Mount Saint Mary’s University.
Commissioner Qually lives in Gettysburg with his wife Elizabeth Karsteter Meighan and their four children Nick, Kate, Lucien, and Sam.
You can contact Commissioner Qually at his office at email@example.com or 717-337-9820, but as he spends much of his time attending community meeting he is also available on his personal cellphone number 717-339-6514. Commissioner Qually is dedicated to obtaining resident input and welcomes residents to contact him to discuss their concerns either in or out of the courthouse.
